5,475 Sunrises!

It has been fifteen amazingly wonderful, challenging, heartbreaking, joyous, and fruitful years of navigating two battles of cancer and the struggle of survivor’s guilt. I am grateful every day for the gift of remission and I pray for those whose gift never comes. If someone had told me fifteen years ago that I would be writing about still living on the other side of cancer, I would have saved thousands of days that I handed over to fear when my body and mind needed the grace and relief of positive energy. But, cancer shocks you when you hear those words.

Cancer becomes a mountain between you and living. It must be climbed and it gives you no choice. It is a wake up call to focus inward and tune out the noise of others. It is YOU battling something trespassing within YOU made by YOU.

I can spend a great deal of time describing all the facets of cancer, but I will save that for another day. Today is a day to show that it is possible to live on the other side of cancer. I have learned so much about how your daily choices affect your health in immense ways and that is GOOD NEWS. You have the power to reduce your vulnerability to disease and boost your immune system. You can make your body inhospitable to cancer setting up camp and demanding your attention.

If you remember nothing else from this post, remember this …The way you THINK, what you BELIEVE about your self and what is possible, the words you SPEAK, how often you MOVE your body, how well you select the FOODS you eat, how often you MEDITATE and DESTRESS, how often you spend time in NATURE, your FAITH, and what childhood emotional baggage and unprocessed TRAUMA are you still holding on to - all affect your HEALTH.

You have been designed with a body, mind and soul. Your brilliant essence is an interconnected system that wants to heal. You can help encourage healing. Learn how to be your own Healthcare Advocate over the entire beautiful living being that is YOU.

Every sunrise offers you a chance to experience another day of living. How will you feel, think, move and vibrate in this day? Will you sacrifice the sunset on the altar of fear? (I have sacrificed way too many days in the worry landmine that is remission). Instead, though, let us free this day to be a positive beacon guiding us towards strength, self love, compassion and living healthy. Dare to believe.
